TASK:

You need to develop a detailed understanding of one recent volcanic event. You must:

• describe the spatial and temporal setting of the event
• describe and explain the association of the event to plate boundaries and plate movement
• assess the perception of the event, and the factors affecting those perceptions at a range of scales – e.g. magnitude, frequency, population characteristics etc.
• explain the causes of the event
• explain and assess the impacts of the event
• explain, assess and justify the response to the event – including the factors affecting this response.

Recent events are ones which have occurred since 2000.
You should present your findings as a report or magazine-style article. Make sure to give the sources of any images or text you use.
